State of the Union with 90 days left
Posted in Worst Idea Ever on 03. Nov, 2009
It’s hard to believe I’ve really only been at this for three weeks. In this short a period of time, I have hustled my (not so) little butt off, training, doing art pieces, and generally trying to entertain and keep everyone’s attention.
I have never been particularly charity minded myself. This is really very new for me, pushing for a purpose that is not at all selfishly intended. The charity is a modest one, and I don’t want to overstate it’s importance in the big picture compared to other charities that I know are out there, looking for cures for cancer and such, but hitching my wagon to a larger cause in order to keep me going on the path has motivated me even greater than I would have expected ( I mean, I could be wrong. Maybe it’s just endorphins from running around every day, right? Nah, I’m going with purpose of philanthropic spirit).
With 90 days until the race, I have raised $480, from some really fantastic individuals. That is 13.7% of the way to my 3500 goal. To mark this occasion, I thought it was a smart time to bust out a progress graphic. Observe:
Some of these people didn’t even care to take advantage of my offer to do portraits for them, some of them paid for portraits and have yet to get back to me with the photo reference they want me to use! One person has been a perfect stranger to me, but apparently she liked my work enough to have me draw her toddler, which is flattering and awesome. A couple of people have had very custom type pieces, like this business card front and back done for a friend of mine:
The details are changed, of course.

My queue is full, which is fantastic, I want it even more full than it is now. I plan to draw the toddler after drawing a three person family and their two pets. It will be a busy night tonight, I will broadcast these drawings as I do them on my Ustream page, and will announce when I start them on my twitter page.
If you’d like to get a portrait commissioned, there are two options:
- 35$ or more gets you one head and shoulders portrait, with a simple background.

- 50$ or more gets you two head and shoulder portraits, OR one full body portrait, again, with a simple background.

If you have something more custom in mind, feel free to email me with any questions about what I can do and for what price at drew.gilbert@gmail.com
