I can't say that we are experts on this subject any longer, we bought our iPhone with no contract in Thailand, which cost us top-dollar but allows us freedom to travel with no hassle. In my limited understanding, I believe if you buy an iPhone with a contract in the states, you will need to get it unlocked to use foreign sims. Verizon and Sprint seem to have initiated a plan which would allow them to unlock the phones of their customers in good standing, but don't quote me on that. If you unlock your iphone, you do void any warranty you have with Apple, so proceed down that path with a little caution. Sorry I could not be more helpful. Google is your friend! :) Hey Amber!
