Documentary: “The Evolution of Dad”

I caught a press release about a documentary that is coming out on Father’s Day called “The Evolution of Dad“. Here’s the trailer for the film:

It looks to be an examination of the changing role of fatherhood in today’s (USA) society. I’m not a huge fan of the filmmaker’s speaking voice, but otherwise the trailer looks solid.

I am technically a stay-at-home dad, in that I am home all day. Even as I type this, my foot is being used to keep Cole unconscious*. But I work full time remotely, and am not the primary caregiver by any means. My wife is fortunate enough to make her own hours, and between the two of us we keep this kid happy and healthy. I would not have a problem being a more typical stay-at-home dad though. I recall telling my wife years before we had Cole, if money were not an object, I would happily stay home and raise the kiddos.

The way the world works today, I certainly can’t begrudge anyone who works at being a stay-at-home dad, if the family unit has talked this over and everyone is decided this is the method that will work best with your family, then forget anyone who would try to make you feel bad because they can’t wrap their brains around it**

* It’s rocking him to sleep! What did you think I was doing with my foot?
** haters gonna hate!
