We are just coming out of the time of year when three of the four Gilberts have birthdays. Stella turned 1 in Feb, making her debut as a toddler with some flare. I discovered I’ve been on Vine for nearly as long as Stella has been existing in the world of man, so below are my favorite Stella vines:

My little man has turned 4, which is our unofficial cross from “toddler” into “kid” territory. It occurred to me recently that Cole has been “Superman” in nearly every country he has visited. One thing that you learn traveling the world as Superman, is that EVERYONE knows the name Superman. It doesn’t matter what language you speak. Superman is universal.

So for his birthday, we beat the crap out of Superman.

It took four kids about three rounds to finally do the deed. Much candy was had by all. Much sugar was consumed that day, and in the days that followed.

Christine had her birthday the day after Stella. It’s the two months of the year we get to be the same age before I have to fully plunge into “late 30′s” We adults don’t do a whole lot for our own birthdays typically, but I think we are going to need to get better at it now that Cole is at an age where we do want him to be psyched about upcoming birthdays. He and I made a card for mama, but other than that, her birthday got rolled in with Stella’s. Not something I want to make a habit of.

Before Christine and I started with the baby making we felt certain that the kids and I would conspire to play pranks and pull stunts on poor, unsuspecting mama, but so far, it’s been exactly the opposite. As it turns out, I’m not the fun one of the two of us. I’m looking forward to turning that on it’s head this time next year when Cole will be big enough to be in on the joke

Next year, Christine. Next year.

The photo of Cole in Mexico is from the fabulous Pam MacNaughtan, the (better than my shots) photo of Lego Superman comes from the incomparable Snaps and Blabs. Go say hello from me.
