Hey Dad!

Under the wire on this one. I actually got this done during my train ride to Philly this afternoon, but now it’s too late for my dad to see it tonight, so sorry for getting this to you late. Happy Father’s Day!

Hi Mom!

This is an animation for my mom, who doesn’t live near me anymore, and while I felt bad about making some delivery guy make the trip down that dirt road to deliver flowers, I wanted to let her know I love and treasure her. Happy Mother’s Day all you moms out there.

Nephews get animated - Finale

I mentioned in the last post that I had my nephews draw one more thing for me to animate in flash, so here is my later-than-I-would-have-liked entry showing what came of it. Petey decided he wanted Car Jump 2.0, I guess he thought he could improve on his original work. I did my best to represent it better myself.

Isaiah was ambitious with his. I initially had this guy animated like a zombie, but it just looked really off. Also, that is meant to be water beneath the guy walking. I didn’t want to draw anything at all myself for these, but I thought the guy needed something below him to show he was moving, so I took the clouds and made them blue, hoping they would come off puddle-like. I will let you decide if it was successful.

Animation jam with my nephews

My youngest sister is the mother of two very cool, enthusiastic boys. While visiting family this week, I took a chunk of one evening to let them use my Wacom tablet. The oldest, Petey, drew two different flames, side by side, probably thinking the first one wasn’t good enough and could do better if he tried it again. They looked similar enough that I thought “Why not put these together?” This was followed by Isiah, two years younger, following up with a more challenging fire of his own, but by then I was ready for the challenge. Thankfully, they were game as well and we came up with some super fun stuff. Use the arrows to navigate to each of the four different animations. I am working on a fifth and sixth tonight.

I was trying to woo a client towards a particular style I wanted to do for a project. It didn’t work. I KNEW I should have done Hendrix!

Moustache March: A look back.

“You have a lot of teeth.”

- My wife, after I did in the handlebar ’stache.

Of course, I always had alot of teeth. All of them, in fact. However, she hadn’t seen much of them over the last month or more. I admit, this exercise got to be a little much after awhile, but it was a lot of fun, especially the handlebar, which I will sort of miss. I saved the last week for the last day, partially from having an extremely busy last week or so, and partially laziness. Let’s call it me wanting to tease all three of you readers into waiting for something truly troubling.

woah. I put on the pretentious sweater just for you.

Ok, so I won’t inundate anyone else who may have come here to see art or whatever nonsense. There’s a somewhat complete recap of the month under the cut.

Illustration Friday: Heavy

What’s this, an actual illustration for Illustration Friday? I used this theme to give some of the textures from CRUMBLE, CRACKLE, BURN a try.

I surely went a bit overboard, but it was a good learning exersize. I might see how I would go about animating this in flash, which will probably be a monster with regards to file size.

Citizens of Jamaica Plain - A message from “Maverick”

I can see your eyes upon me, hear your whispers as I make my way down Centre Street. To answer your questions:

-No, I don’t know where the Tractor Pull is. If I knew, I would certainly not be out hunting for Cutty Sark.

-Moustache 3:16 says “I’m gonna make kissing really uncomfortable”

Take heed, fair JP, for I have begun to enter the mouth. Soon I will have control over the central nervous system, and then I will possess a body of my very own to control (though one that has seemed to let itself go over the last ten years or so, but beggars can’t be choosers). The only thing that can stop my reign now would be if my host body were to use moustache wax, and as we all surely know, it’s impossible to find moustache wax these days. I think they stopped making it in the 70’s or something. I will have to hit wikipedia and get back to you.

ENJOY THIS MORNING HUMANS, IT WILL BE OVER SOON ENOUGH (Because at noon it’s not technically morning, and you can’t get that time back, people. You just can’t).

Sincerely yours,

“Maverick”
AKA “The ‘Stache”
AKA “Oh my god honey, look at that guy’s face over there.”
